Ingredients

  • Beef:
  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Stir-Fry:
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable or peanut oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets (or snow peas)
  • Sauce:
  • ¼ cup oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • ¼ cup beef broth or water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • Garnish (Optional):
  • Green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Set aside for 5 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat.
  3. Add beef in a single layer and sear for 1–2 minutes per side until just browned. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add garlic and ginger. Stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add onion and broccoli. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until vegetables are crisp-tender.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk oyster sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, broth, and cornstarch.
  7. Return beef to the pan and pour in sauce. Toss to coat.
  8. Cook for 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens and coats everything beautifully.
  9. Garnish and serve hot.

Notes

  • Slice beef thinly and against the grain for tenderness.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan—cook beef in batches if needed.
  • Add mushrooms or bell peppers for variety.
  • For a spicy kick, add chili oil or sambal oelek.
