Calabrian chili roasted red pepper pizza is a delightful combination of spicy and sweet flavors. The roasted red peppers add a smoky sweetness, while the Calabrian chili paste provides a bold and spicy kick. Here’s a delicious recipe for you to try:
Ingredients:
For the Pizza Dough:
1 pound (450g) pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
Cornmeal or flour, for dusting
For the Toppings:
1 cup roasted red bell peppers, thinly sliced (homemade or store-bought)
1/4 cup Calabrian chili paste (adjust to your spice preference)
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, torn
Olive oil, for drizzling
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions:
1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to the highest temperature it can reach (usually around 500°F or 260°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating to get it nice and hot.
2. Prepare the Pizza Dough:
Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness. If you prefer a thinner crust, roll it out more, and for a thicker crust, roll it less.
Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza peel or an inverted baking sheet that has been dusted with cornmeal or flour. This will make it easier to transfer the pizza to the oven.
3. Spread the Calabrian Chili Paste:
Spread the Calabrian chili paste evenly over the pizza dough, leaving a small border around the edges for the crust. Adjust the amount of chili paste based on your spice preference. Be cautious; Calabrian chili paste can be very spicy!
4. Add the Roasted Red Peppers:
Scatter the thinly sliced roasted red bell peppers over the chili paste.
5. Sprinkle the Cheeses:
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese and crumbled feta cheese evenly over the pizza.
6. Season and Prepare for Baking:
Season the pizza with a pinch of salt and a dash of black pepper to taste. Drizzle a little olive oil over the top for added flavor.
7. Bake the Pizza:
If you’re using a pizza stone, carefully slide the pizza onto the hot stone in the preheated oven. If you’re using a baking sheet, simply place the baking sheet with the pizza into the oven.
Bake the pizza for about 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown, and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
8. Finish with Fresh Basil:
Remove the pizza from the oven and immediately sprinkle torn fresh basil leaves over the top. The heat from the pizza will release the aromatic flavors of the basil.
9. Slice and Serve:
Use a pizza cutter or a sharp knife to slice the Calabrian chili roasted red pepper pizza into wedges or squares.
10. Enjoy:
This Calabrian chili roasted red pepper pizza is perfect for spice lovers who appreciate a balance of heat and sweetness. It’s a delightful twist on classic pizza that’s sure to please your taste buds.
