Ingredients

  • Cinnamon Scones:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • ½ cup heavy cream (plus more for brushing)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional Cinnamon Glaze:
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tablespoons milk or cream
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven
Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Cut in Butter
Cut cold butter into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter or fingers until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add Wet Ingredients
In a small bowl, whisk cream, egg, and vanilla. Pour into dry ingredients and gently mix until just combined.
  5. Shape the Dough
Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface. Pat into a 1-inch thick circle. Cut into 8 wedges.
  6. Bake
Transfer scones to baking sheet. Brush tops lightly with cream.
    Bake 15–18 minutes, until golden.
  7. Glaze (Optional)
Whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over warm scones.

Notes

  • Keep butter cold for flaky scones.
  • Do not overmix—this keeps them tender.
  • Add cinnamon chips or raisins for variation.
  • Best served warm but store up to 2 days airtight.
