  • Boneless chicken breast
  • Cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper
  • Cooking oil (for pan-frying)
  • Fresh orange zest and juice
  • Soy sauce
  • Honey
  • Minced garlic
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Sliced green onions (for garnish)

Marinating the Chicken

  1. Preparing the Chicken: Begin by cutting the boneless chicken breast into bite-sized pieces, ensuring even cooking.
  2. Cornstarch Coating: In a bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch, salt, and pepper until they’re evenly coated. This step provides a crispy texture when pan-frying.

Creating the Orange Glaze

  1. Citrusy Elixir: In a separate bowl, whisk together fresh orange zest and juice, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, and a pinch of red pepper flakes for a subtle kick.

Pan-Frying to Perfection

  1. Pan-Frying the Chicken: In a skillet, heat cooking oil over medium-high heat. Pan-fry the cornstarch-coated chicken pieces until they develop a golden-brown crust and are cooked through.
  2. Glazing with Orange Sauce: Pour the prepared orange glaze over the cooked chicken in the skillet. Toss the chicken to coat each piece with the luscious glaze.

Garnishing and Presentation

  1. Sesame Seed Sprinkle: To add a nutty flavor and visual appeal, sprinkle sesame seeds over the glazed chicken.
  2. Green Onion Finale: Top the dish with thinly sliced green onions for a burst of freshness and color.

Tips for Flavor Variations

  • Spicy Sensation: If you enjoy heat, increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add a dash of hot sauce to the glaze.
  • Nutty Crunch: Enhance the dish’s texture by tossing in toasted chopped nuts like almonds or cashews.
