Step 2: Prepare the Honey Cilantro Lime Marinade

  • In a small bowl, combine the honey, minced garlic, lime zest, lime juice, chopped cilantro, and soy sauce (if using). Stir until the marinade is well mixed.

Step 3: Prepare the Foil Packets

  • Lay out each piece of aluminum foil on a flat surface.
  • Lightly grease the center of each foil with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  • Place a salmon fillet on each piece of foil.
  • Season the salmon fillets with salt and black pepper to taste.
  • Drizzle each fillet with olive oil.

Step 4: Apply the Marinade and Seal the Packets

  • Spoon the Honey Cilantro Lime Marinade evenly over each salmon fillet.
  • Carefully fold the sides of the foil over the salmon to create a packet, sealing it tightly. Leave a bit of room for heat circulation inside the packet.

Step 5: Bake the Salmon

  • Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches your desired level of doneness.

  • Garnish with lime slices and additional fresh cilantro if desired.

Baked Honey Cilantro Lime Salmon in Foil Recipe

Yield: 6

Cook Time: 20 minutes

If you're searching for a delicious and easy way to prepare salmon that bursts with flavor, this Baked Honey Cilantro Lime Salmon in Foil is the perfect recipe for you. This dish combines the natural richness of salmon with the zesty freshness of cilantro and lime, all elevated by a touch of sweet honey. The best part? It's simple to make and even easier to clean up since it's cooked in foil. Let's dive into this mouthwatering recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 large salmon fillet - (see note)
  • salt and pepper - to taste
  • ½ cup butter - melted (see note)
  • juice of 2 limes - (plus one lime, thinly sliced)
  • 4 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • ⅓ cup cilantro - roughly chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line and grease a large baking sheet with foil. Lay salmon on foil and season with salt and pepper on both sides to taste. Slip lime slices underneath the salmon.

  • Stir together butter, lime juice, honey, and garlic. Pour mixture over salmon. Fold sides of foil up over the salmon (don’t worry if it doesn’t cover the salmon completely).

  • Bake for 15-20 minutes. Switch oven to broil and cook another 5 minutes. Sprinkle chopped cilantro over the top and serve.

Notes

Don’t stress about the size of your salmon fillet. This recipe is very forgiving and works for one very large salmon, a couple of medium-sized fillets, or even several small individual fillets.

For an even lighter version, you can cut back the butter to 4 tablespoons instead of a half cup (8 tablespoons). Keep in mind though that for a very large salmon fillet like the one I used, 8 tablespoons is not a terribly huge amount when divided between 4-6 servings.
