The Chicken: A Blank Canvas for Flavor

At the heart of this recipe lies boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs. Their neutral flavor profile serves as a perfect backdrop for the bold tastes of spinach and the cream sauce. The tender chicken acts as a protein canvas, ready to absorb the layers of flavors that will be artfully introduced.

The Creamy Spinach Sauce: A Marriage of Richness and Freshness

The pièce de résistance of this dish is the creamy spinach sauce. The velvety base of heavy cream or half-and-half lends a luxurious mouthfeel, while sautéed onions and garlic introduce aromatic depth. Baby spinach leaves – vibrant and verdant – are gently wilted into the sauce, offering a burst of color and a mild bitterness that balances the richness.

The Magic of Nutmeg: Elevating the Flavor Profile

A touch of freshly grated nutmeg elevates the cream sauce to new heights. Nutmeg’s warm, aromatic notes are a perfect complement to the earthy spinach and the luscious creaminess of the sauce. This seemingly minor addition creates a flavor harmony that’s simultaneously comforting and sophisticated.

Sautéing Perfection: Infusing Flavors into the Chicken

The cooking technique for creamy spinach chicken involves searing the chicken in a hot skillet until it’s beautifully golden and cooked through. This initial step not only locks in the chicken’s succulence but also adds a caramelized layer that contributes to the overall depth of taste.

Once the chicken is cooked, it’s set aside while the creamy spinach sauce is prepared. The sauce ingredients are combined and simmered until they meld into a cohesive symphony of flavors. The wilted spinach integrates seamlessly into the velvety base, creating a visually appealing green swirl that’s as tantalizing to the eyes as it is to the palate.

Serving and Presentation: A Feast for All Senses

When it comes to presenting creamy spinach chicken, simplicity is key. Each piece of succulent chicken is nestled in a pool of the creamy spinach sauce, allowing the flavors to mingle harmoniously. For an added touch of visual delight, a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese or a few fresh spinach leaves can be used as a garnish, creating an inviting visual contrast.

Accompaniments: Complementary Partners in Taste

Creamy spinach chicken pairs exceptionally well with sides that enhance its flavors. Velvety mashed potatoes provide a comforting bed for the chicken and sauce, absorbing the flavors and creating a satisfying combination of textures. Steamed rice or buttered noodles can also be served, offering an alternative base that soaks up the luscious sauce.

Conclusion: Nourishing the Body and Soul with Creamy Spinach Chicken

In a world of culinary possibilities, creamy spinach chicken stands as a testament to the art of creating dishes that comfort and indulge. This recipe offers a glimpse into a dish that’s both familiar and elevated – where tender chicken, creamy spinach sauce, and a touch of nutmeg dance on the taste buds and provide a sensory experience that’s both heartwarming and luxurious. Whether shared with loved ones or savored in solitude, creamy spinach chicken is an invitation to embrace the joy of savoring each bite and letting flavors transport you to a world of comfort and culinary bliss.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. chicken tenders boneless chicken breasts and thighs work too
  • 1 pack Hawaiian slider buns or dinner rolls
  • Mayonnaise, to taste
  • Sweet Baby Rays Golden Mustard honey mustard works as a substitute
  • 8 strips bacon, cooke crisp
  • colby jack cheese enough slices for the sandwiches
  • 1/2 head lettuce
  • 1/2 small red onion sliced thin
  • 2 Roma tomatoes sliced thin
  • 4-5 tablespoons oil for marinade and cooking chicken
  • MY BLACKENED SEASONING
  • 2 tablespoons smoked paprika or regular
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • BUTTER TOPPING
  • 1/2 stick butter softened
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced

Instructions

  • Place tenders into a large zip-top bag or bowl. Add several tablespoons of blackened seasoning and a few tablespoons of oil. Mix to coat them evenly, making sure they are well seasoned on all sides.

  • Cook chicken either in an oiled skillet over medium-high, or grill the chicken, about 3 minutes per side flipping just once.

  • As chicken cooks make your butter topping by combining all butter mixture ingredients in a small bowl. Heat for 30 seconds or until butter melts, then stir to combine.

  • If needed, slice the sliders horizontally using a serrated knife. Place them cut side up onto a baking sheet and toast under a broiler until golden brown, just a few minutes.

  • Flip the top buns so the domed tops are facing up and leave them beside the bottom buns on the pan. Assemble the sliders by first adding a squeeze of mayo to all of the bottom buns.

  • Add the chicken, scattering it evenly so each slider gets at least one chicken tender.

  • Add a dollop of the golden honey mustard, then place cheese over the chicken.

  • Spread the top buns with the butter mixture. Add baking sheet back into the broiler for another minute or two until cheese softens and the top buns are slightly toasted.

  • Top the sliders with bacon, tomatoes, red onion, lettuce, and another drizzle of the honey mustard. Place the top buns over the sandwiches, slice to separate them and serve.
