Marinade Magic

  1. Pork Chunks: You’ll need around 1.5 pounds of boneless pork, cut into bite-sized chunks (about 1-inch pieces).
  2. Fresh Garlic: A head of garlic, minced to infuse that irresistible flavor.
  3. Soy Sauce: 1/4 cup of soy sauce for that perfect savory kick.
  4. Honey: 2 tablespoons of honey to balance the flavors with a hint of sweetness.
  5. Sesame Oil: 1 tablespoon of sesame oil for a nutty aroma.

Coating for Crunchiness

  1. Cornstarch: 1/2 cup of cornstarch to achieve a crispy texture.
  2. Salt and Pepper: To taste, for seasoning the pork.

Garnish Galore

  1. Green Onions: Sliced green onions to add a fresh, vibrant touch.
  2. Sesame Seeds: A sprinkle of sesame seeds for a delightful crunch.

The Cooking Process

Now that we have our ingredients ready, let’s dive into the cooking process:

Marinating the Pork

Step 1: Mix It Up

In a mixing bowl, combine the minced garlic, soy sauce, honey, and sesame oil. Stir them together until you have a smooth and fragrant marinade.

Step 2: Infuse Flavor

Add the pork chunks to the marinade, ensuring each piece is coated thoroughly. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld.

Creating the Crispy Coating

Step 3: Coat It Right

In another bowl, combine the cornstarch with a pinch of salt and pepper. This will be the magical coating that gives our Garlic Pork Bites their irresistible crunch.

Step 4: Coat the Pork

Remove the marinated pork from the fridge and, one piece at a time, coat them evenly with the cornstarch mixture. Make sure each piece is generously coated.

Step 5: Heat Things Up

In a deep pan or skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Carefully add the coated pork pieces, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until they turn golden brown and crispy, usually around 2-3 minutes per side.

Serving Your Garlic Pork Bites

Step 6: Garnish and Enjoy

Once your Garlic Pork Bites are cooked to perfection, remove them from the pan and let them drain on a paper towel to remove any excess oil. Sprinkle with sliced green onions and sesame seeds for that final touch of elegance.

Conclusion

There you have it – a sumptuous Garlic Pork Bites Recipe that’s sure to impress your taste buds and your guests. Cook Time 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. yellow onion finely chopped
  • 1 slice white bread crusts removed, shredded
  • 6 oz. ground beef
  • 6 oz. spicy ground Italian sausage
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup panko breadcrumbs italian seasoned
  • 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 Tbsp. Italian parsley finely chopped
  • 1.5 Tbsp. olive oil
  • For sauce:
  • 1/2 can pasta sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. basil
  • 1/4 tsp. oregano
  • 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper
  • pinch dried mint
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Tear the slice of white bread into tiny pieces, placing them into a large bowl as you tear them. Combine all of the meatball ingredients, except for the olive oil, into the bowl with the white bread.
  • Mix thoroughly with your hands until everything has totally combined. Get in there and enjoy it.

refrigerate overnight if you can! otherwise...

  • Spoon about 2-3 tablespoons of the meat into your hands and roll into a ball. Set these balls aside on a cutting board or plate near your oven. Repeat until you have no meat left in the bowl.
  • Heat a large sauté pan slightly above medium, and add the olive oil and tilt the pan to coat the entire surface with the oil. Place half of the meatballs into the pan, and brown on all sides. Remove the meatballs from the pan and place onto a clean plate once they are browned. Repeat with the second half of meatballs. Remember, you are not cooking them through, you're just browning the outsides!
  • In the same sauté pan, without cleaning it out, add your pasta sauce and herbs. Turn the heat down to about medium-low so it's just simmering, then add the meatballs. Spoon some of the sauce over every meatball, then cover the pan and let it set for five minutes.
  • Flip the meatballs over and repeat.
  • Serve these over pasta or risotto, and enjoy while hot!

Notes

*I made these last weekend and let the meatball mixture refrigerate overnight. I think this allows all of the ingredients to get to know each other a little more, and I thought it was better overall.
